5. Who I admire?

She is Catalina May Trejo, a Chilean journalist with a master's degree in journalism. Her work experience is quite extensive, she has taught at different universities in the area of journalism and participated for more than 10 years in written media such as Sabado magazine, La Tercera, Paula and The Clinic. She is a collaborator of the production company Adonde Media and conducts workshops in Latin America on documentary podcasts.

I know her through the podcast "Las Raras", a project in which she narrates non-fiction stories about people who break the rules and fight for social change, which she created together with Martin Cruz.

Knowing about this project opened my eyes to another type of journalism, I literally fell in love with this way of telling stories. That's what I want to achieve!. In all their seasons they tell stories that allow us to see life from another perspective. It is really incredible, I highly recommend listening to it. It opens the borders to what we traditionally know as journalism.

2. Why did I choose my major?

Whenever older people asked me "what do you want to be when you grow up?" I got paralyzed. I have never liked that question. I was just saying "when I grow up I'll find out". It made me uncomfortable having to think about my future, because the social outbreak or the pandemic, showed me that everything could change.   Despite not having clarity, I wanted journalism because it is a fairly free career, where I can talk about whatever I want. As I did well in the University Test, I entered my first option.  I decided to study at the University of Chile because of it’s prestige. 1. Who I am?

My name is Costanza Fernanda Zuñiga Molina. I know, it's a long name. Honestly, I hated my name as a child.  Well, I'm 18 years old, my birthday is coming soon (April 22, so you can wish me a happy birthday). All these years I have lived in the same place. I'm from Maipú, one of the largest communes in Santiago. I live with my parents, my brother and my pets, a dog named Goody and a cat named Emma. I really love them. A fact about me is that I have been a scout girl for more than 7 years. This has allowed me to get to know different places and different people from the country in the camps. Emma Goody

4. The Story of a Picture

Entering the university opens the doors to a new world. One day of last year, I was at the Ñuble station when I received an email from my teacher suspending the class. As soon as I got the message I thought: "what do I do?". It was more than three hours until my next class. Sitting in the station, I remembered that a while ago I wanted to go to Brussels, a cafeteria in Providence. I had worked, so I didn't need permission or money to go where I wanted. Minutes later I was in Los Leones heading to the cafe. It was my first time going out alone. The happiness and fulfillment that I felt is indescribable. I felt empowered, that I don't have to depend on someone if I have myself. That morning I got out of my comfort zone and showed myself much more than I expected. "Messy 8x8" and "hot chocolate" from Brussels- Heart of chocolate
